The Elementary International Languages Program is a non-credit program that is open to all elementary school-age children (JK-8) regardless of their cultural or ethnic background.

This program provides students with the opportunity to develop their first language skills ,  deepen their cultural awareness, foster pride in their heritage and strengthen their self-esteem. In addition to building language skills, research demonstrates that students who study languages in addition to English and French perform better in other school subjects.

This program runs in various sites across the Halton region and includes a full school year session (September – June) and a summer program (July).

2017-2018 Class hours:
Friday Classes : September 15th-June 1st,   6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Saturday  Classes : September 16th-June 2nd,  9:30 am – 12:00 pm*
*German class runs 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m

Languages offered during the school year session*:  Albanian, American Sign Language**, Arabic, Bengali, Bulgarian**, Cantonese, Dutch, Farsi, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Sanskrit, Serbian, Sinhala**, Spanish, Tagalog**, Tamil,  Turkish, Urdu and Vietnamese.

* All classes are conditional on sufficient enrollment. Some classes are not offered during the summer.  Additional languages may be offered based on demand. 

** American Sign Language Oakville, Bulgarian Oakville, Sinhala Milton and Tagalog Milton  will begin Friday, Oct. 13 /Saturday , Oct. 14 2017 pending sufficient enrollment

Classes DO run on all P.A. Days

The Elementary International Languages Program concludes with an End Of Year Celebration. All students come together in one location where they will perform as a class on stage in front of their friends and family to showcase what they have learned throughout the year.

Students will receive a Certificate of Completion and a Progress Report prior to the event.

This celebration will be held on Friday, June 1st or Saturday June 2nd and is considered a regular scheduled class

Participation in the program is free to all students, but a small classroom materials fee ($25) for each registered child is required at the time of registration. You will not receive a confirmation of registration until we we receive this fee.  Students may NOT register on site.
