Night School Co-operative Education
Co-operative education for current Halton District School Board students is offered through our Continuing Education Night School program. Co-operative education allows students to earn up to 2 credits through a combination of in-school pre-placement and reflection days, assignments, and workplace assessments which will count towards completion of their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Students will participate in valuable learning experiences that help prepare them for the next stage of their lives, whether in apprenticeship training, college, community living, university or the workplace. Students must be able to work independently in a workplace environment.
Each co-op credit consists of 2 parts: 110 hours of work and assigned classroom work. Students will be required to complete a pre-placement package prior to beginning their credits, and provide their employer with an information package and ask for permission to participate in the program. Co-op placement hours will be completed on weeknights after 5 pm.
Marks are assigned upon the completion of the full course of study, including the required number of work hours, the employer’s assessment, and completion of all required assessments, including weekly logs and the final project.
Co-op is offered in Semester 1 and Semester 2.
To participate in Night School Co-operative education, students must be recommended by their home school Student Services counselor.
